The employed staff of the HSPN are involved in all of its activities, where each of them has a specific mission.

Studied at the Department of Economics, National Kapodistrian University of Athens. Head of Accounting, keeping track of the accounting and financial information of the HSPN.

Accounting Department: Charitini Papantidou

Undergraduate student of the Department of Banking and Financial Management at the University of Piraeus. She works as an accounting assistant and she is responsible for the financial management of EU projects.

Blue Flag: Dareia - Nefeli Vourdoumpa

Blue Flag: Dareia - Nefeli Vourdoumpa

She holds a MSc in Oceanographer from the University of Southampton while prior to that she pursued a degree in Marine Sciences from the University of the Aegean. She is the Coordinator of the Programme in Greece since 2008.

Blue Flag: Thodoris Kakarnias

Graduate of Hellenic Navy’s Academy. He has been working in HSPN since 1996 and he is occupied exclusively since 2004 with the Blue Flag Programme , managing the secretariat of the Programme.

Environmentalist, Msc Oceanography. She has graduated from the Department of Environmental Sciences of Giannena, with Postgraduated Studies in Oceanography, Univercity of Athens. She coordinates all three International Programmes of HSPN; “Eco-Schools”, Young Reporters for the Environment” and “Learning About Forests”.

Educational Programmes: Maria Chatzinikolaou

Philologist, Linguist, Educational Programme Management. Graduate of the Department of Greek Philology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and holds a Master's Degree in the field of Applied Linguistics from the Department of Philology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has participated in the implementation of national and European educational programmes of the University of Thessaly, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the University of the Aegean and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Since 2015 she has been working as an educational programme manager. She is an author of educational material on Human Rights Education. She has been working at the HSPN since 2023 and is responsible for the coordination of the HSPN’s educational programmes.

Green Key: Matoula Syrigou

Green Key: Matoula Syrigou

She holds a MSc in Sustainable Development from Harokopio University in Athens while prior to that she pursued a degree in Home Economics and Ecology from the same institution. She is the coordinator of Green Key Programme. Her main goal is to help tourism enterprises implement changes according to the program’s specifications and achieve their sustainability goals.

He is responsible for promoting the international program "Green Key". He works as a secretary in Green Key Programme.

Nature Protection: Miltos Gletsos

Environmental Scientist MSc and Electrical Engineer, works in the HSPN since 2015. He is the coordinator of Nature Protection section, and he is also a part of the implementattion of the following projects: LIFE "For Open Forests" in mountains Oiti and Kallidromo and also "Natura Themis" abut environmental crime, the "A to A - Ancient Cities for Endemic Flora, From Apollo to Athena" project that is about the preservation of endemic plants in archaelogical sites, as well as the programme for the "Regenaration of Kythera" in Kythera island.

EU Projects: Christos Georgiadis

Agricultural Engineer with postgraduate studies in "Management of Protected Areas". He manages and coordinates all European projects of the HSPN and has an active role in drafting proposals to be submitted for funding under various EU programmes, such as Horizon 2020, LIFE+, Interreg MED, Erasmus+, etc. In addition, with the co-operation of relevant governmental authorities and other environmental organizations, he coordinates the LIFE PRIMED project and the NewLife4Drylands project of the LIFE+ Programme, while also participating in the coordination of other European projects. In the past he coordinated the "For Open Forests" project on the Oiti and Kaldromo, and the "LIFE Natura Themis" project on environmental law.

EU Projects: Xanthi Chantzistrountsiou

Biologist with an MSc in Oceanography and Management of Marine Environment, with a Ph.D. in Biology and specialization in Ecology and Systematics of microorganisms from transitional aquatic ecosystems. She has worked in the private sector as a tutor, having taught students from elementary school up to high school, while she has also worked in European projects as a Ph.D. candidate and a post-doctoral researcher. At the HSPN she is involved in the management of European projects.

EU Projects: Alexandros Spyropoulos

Environmental Engineer (MEng), graduate of the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering of the Technical University of Crete, currently pursuing a Master of Sciences (MSc) degree in "Bioeconomy, Circular Economy and Sustainable Development" at the University of Piraeus. He has been actively participating in promotion of sustainable practices. At the HSPN he is involved in the management of European projects.
